Also known as the National Literature Centre of Wales, The Dylan Thomas Centre holds a collection of memorabilia relating to the life and work of Dylan Thomas. Thomas, a poet and Swansea native (born in 1914) wrote many famous works such as "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night," "Fern Hill" and "A Child's Christmas in Wales." Many of his poems were based on his childhood and adult life in Wales. Dylan Thomas died in 1953 of alcohol poisoning. Today, the house Dylan Thomas grew up in - 5 Cwmdonkin Drive - is open for tours arranged through the Dylan Thomas Centre. A statue of the poet as a child can be found in Dylan Thomas Square and other related attractions are strewn throughout Swansea.
