Tintern Abbey is considered to be one of the most "monastic" ruins in Wales. Situated amongst the hills of the Wye River Valley, it stands today much as it did between the years of 1269 and 1301.
Offa's Dyke lies between Wales and England on the border. It was built during King Offa's reign (between the years of 757 and 796) to dived his kingdom of England from the Welsh. Offa's Dyke (an embankment) stretches for 80 miles and has survived for more than 1,200 years. In the 1970s Offa's Dyke National Trail was established.
