"Big Pit," a colliery (a coal mine), is one of Wales' leading tourist attractions. For 200 years this site was the place of work for hundreds of men, women and children. Tours of the underground roadways, coal faces and shafts are offered by ex-miners; safety equipment is provided. Allow approximately 2 hours to see the mine and the surrounding buildings.
